Why are my reviews so positive?

Hi guys!

Many of you might be wondering: Why are my reviews so positive? or Why do I always give high ratings to most of the books I review?

Well the answer is...

All of the books I review or choose to review are hand-picked by me. I decline a book if I don't think I'll like it. I guess I'm just good at picking the right books for me =) And if in case I don't like the book as much, I focus more on what the author HAS done WELL, I spend as little of my review on what the author has done WRONGLY...but this doesn't happen a lot because so far, I'm liking a lot of the books that I pick for review on my blog. I like most genres of YA, and most of the YA books I read, are just simply good. One thing you should know about me, is that my ratings will ALWAYS and HONESTLY reflect how I feel about the book. If I found the ending to be okay, I'd probably give it a 6 or a 7, for example. Only some books are perfect; you can see the very select few I have rated perfect here, they're called The Holy Grails: Beholders of the Perfect 100 =)

The bottom line is that the reason why I rate the books I review here so high, is because I choose the books I read, and most of the time, I love them!

Peace, Love, and Totally Kick-Ass YA Books,
my signature

I also hand-pick my own books to review... and most of the time I really like like them as well! So far I've only given one book a low rating... but we're being honest ;)

Well, I guess that either you know yourself really well, or you are very lucky. I also hand-pick my books, but I don't always like the books I choose, and more often than not I also like the books I don't choose :)

Great post. I too rate a lot of my reviews highly. But not in all cases. :)

I do take books for review that I'm not 100% thinking I'll like. I like to broaden my horizons and I hope hold that against an author if I happen to not enjoy it too much.

I'm the same. Fortunately, I do a good job at picking books. I like remembering the good stuff, not the bad.

It's also the same for me! I don't think I've ever written horrible reviews. Maybe I've mentioned something that could improve the book or something, but that's all.

I pick my books as well, but I guess I'm not doing a good job since I'm sort of in a reading slump right now. Some of my reviews are negative. But I feel sort of bad when I give negative reviews, so perhaps I should focus on the positive more like you.

I say the same thing when my daughter asks me why I write so few negative reviews. :-) I have a lot of experience in picking books I'll like!
