The Specialists: Model Spy by Shannon Greenland

Title: The Specialists: Model Spy (Book 1)
Author: Shannon Greenland
Pages: 224
Publisher: Speak
Publication Date: May 10, 2007

Sixteen-year-old Kelly James is in a lot of hot water. When David, her incredibly nice (not to mention supercute and irresistible) collage RA, asks her to uncover some top secret information, she thinks, why not? All she has to do is hack into the government's main computer system. Simple enough for a computer techie genius like herself. But a few hours later, she is caught. Only this isn't a run-of-the-mill arrest. Rather than serve a jail sentence in a juvenile detention, she accepts the option to change her identity and enlist in a secret government spy agency that trains teen agents to go undercover. After all, she has no family of friends. What does she have to lose? Instantly, Kelly Spree, aka girl genius GiGi, is born.
And as if that isn't overwhelming enough, she dicovers that David works for this agency as well. Before she even begins to understand what is going on, she's sent on her first mission as an undercover model. Her partner? None other than David himself!

This is the very first book in The Specialists series. Model Spy is one of my favorites from the series. After I read it, I decided I was going to get the entire series (but I might be biased cause I have a soft spot for spy books).

The book is in GiGi's perspective. At first, she's still unsure about being an agent but she soon finds friends in her other teammates. When she goes on her first mission, she is obviously hesitant but she was determined to prove that she could do it. She learned how to break out of her comfort zone and deal with her mission.

One thing I did notice was that Shannon Greenland (the author) certainly did her research. She described GiGi's special skill in such detail. I learned so much about the computer systems and codes. I applaud that!

This book is suspense, adventure, romance, and slight comedy combined. I loved it.

Model Spy is one of my favorite spy books for a reason. :-) A.
