I Need Your Help! What Should Come First?

Hey folks!

You know how I almost always post an author interview up with my review? Well, I was wondering...which one should I post first? The review or the author interview? And why? I'd be really grateful if you helped me out here...Right now, I'm posting the interview BEFORE the review, but I'm still not sure...what's your take on it?

My take is that you should post the review first and then the interview. I think it's nice to read a little bit about the book before reading about the author. If it's an author I've never heard of, I'm much less likely to check out the interview if I've never even read a review of any of their books.

Hiya Reggie :D

I think you should post the interview first. That way it's like an intro to the author, what they're about, and what their book is about. Then we can see what you think about it when you review it.

As the third comment I'll be the tie breaker (for now). I like the review first so I have a bit of background on the book before hearing from the author. But, I'd want the title/headline to tell me there's an interview in the post so that I know it's coming.

I think the review should come first. I would want to read what the book is about and then read about the author.

Review first please! I'd like to know your opinion about the novel and the premise of it before I hear about the author.

I posted my first author interview last week and I put the interview first. I did this for two reasons. One-I had seen it done this way by other bloggers. Two-I rarely rehash the plot in my reviews (some reviewers include a synopsis in their review) so it would not do a reader much good to read the review first to find out about the book. I've also seen some bloggers post a stock synopsis (like from Amazon, Fantastic Fiction, etc.) between the interview and the review or before the interview and then the review. Have I confused anyone yet? LOL! Personally, reading the interview first gives me insight in to the author and sometimes in to their book so I like reading the interview first.

I personally prefer a review of the book before the author interview; sometimes when I read a good review, it gets me curious as to how the author came up with the idea, what she/he does when writing, who inspires them, etc.

Definately review first! :]

I like the review first especially if it sounds interesting, then I'll be more curious about the author, the story behind it and the cover story.

Review first and then interview. I like to know about the book first and then get to know the person behind the writing :P

I've never thought about it. I don't "interviews", I have articles the author wrote, bios, an excerpt. I post them as I have space in my planner without much thought to when the review is coming.

Good question, looks like review first is winning, I may have to rethink my game plan

I like to read your reviews first, because then I can know a little bit about the book before you interview the author. Reviews get me curious about the author.

Interview first!

I had an author back out of an interview because she read my review....it was slightly negative. So, yeah, interview first!

I think you should post your review first. If I like the sound of the book, I'll be more interested in the author.

I'm a review first girl, I want to know about a book before I find out about the person who wrote it. To me the review is the really important thing unless the author happens to be one that I'm stalking (or wishing I was LOL).

I always like to read the review first.
